De ZB SA 24 is door de firma Siemens & Halske ontworpen voor de Deutsche Reichspost als standaardtoestel. Dit toestel is door vele andere fabrikanten in licentie gemaakt, in allelei varianten.
ZB SA staat voor Zentralbatterie-Betrieb/Selbstanschluss-Betrieb en 24 verwijst naar het jaar van ingebruikname, 1924.
Het toestel is ontwikkeld uit de ZB SA 19, die iets groter was.
De ZB SA 24 heeft een hoge geweivormig haakcontact, omdat hij ontworpen is voor een telefoonhoorn met een trompetvormige spreektuit. Dit model heeft veel verschillende soorten telefoonhoorns en draaischijven. De hier afgebeelde exemplaren hebben een zogenaamd peperstrooier mondstuk op de telefoonhoorn en allebei geen draaischijf van Siemens en Halske.
Het bovenste toestel is een gewone tafeltelefoon met TEFAG draaischijf. Het onderste toestel is een kantoortelefoon voor 2 lijnen. Om één van de lijnen te selecteren moet de rode of de witte knop worden ingedrukt. Dit toestel heeft een draaischijf van Fuld.

ZB SA stands for Zentralbatterie-Betrieb/Selbstanschluss-Betrieb and 24 refers to the year of introduction, 1924.
It was developed from the somewhat larger ZB SA 19.
The ZB SA 24 has a high antler like hookswitch assembly, to accomodate a trumpet shaped speaking tube on the handset. This model was equiped with many different kinds of handsets and rotary dials. The two examples here have a so called pepperpot mouthpiece on the handset and neither of them has a Siemens & Halske dial.
The upper telephone is a normal desk Phone with a TEFAG dial. The lower Phone is a two line office phone. A line was selected by pressing the white or the red button on top. This telephone has a Fuld dial.
