Does it look familiar? It is a modern reproduction by Wild & Wolf of the Ericsson Ericofon, a design from the 1950s. This design classic has been equipped with modern electronics, rj connectors and it comes in a new range of colours.
Formally it is not part of my collection, as I actually bought it for my wife.
It is actually nicely made, of good quality. And, because it has retained the big red button underneath, operating the hook switch, you have to really mind not putting it upright when you want to grab a pen or something and so inadvertantly break the connection.
For comparison I have put a real red Ericofon to the left of it. Other than a slight difference in size and colour, there is no real difference. Even the pattern of holes near the transmitter (microphone) is the same.
As a riminder of the original, the buttons are arranged in a circle, with a fingerstop, reminiscent of the old rotary dial of the Ericofon.
It has a volume control switch and a pulse-tone switch so it is compatible with modern networks.
They are still available and sell for about 50 e at the moment (jan 2017). So it is not a cheaper alternative to a second hand original Ericofon.
