Retro telephone, made to look like a vintage one. The design is very reminiscent of early US bakelite telephones like the American Electric Monophone. Although it is a touch tone telephone, the buttons are arranged in such a manner, that it looks like the phone has a rotary dial. It even has a fingerstop molded in the plastic.
It is however a fully electronic telephone, with a printed circuit board and electronic ringer. It is a very light phone of low build quality. It even has a couple of metal plates inside to give it some weight.
Although it is marked PTT, this telephone was actually made by a frim called Microtel. In this period PTT (or rather PTT-telecom) no longer had their telephons especially designed, but bought in existing designs and sold them under their own name. This telephone was called type Wales by PTT, but it as actually a Microtel type 964 for the black version an type 954 for the white version.
