Successor to the 2712. This model is often called the “Antwerp phone”. Developed by BTMC Antwerp, this phone was produced in many countries all over the world, like Spain, Argentina, Hungary, Romania, Germany and in the late 40s also in the Netherlands as the Standard 2824 A.It was the first fully Bakelite phone that BTMC produced. It had a steel base plate and, like its predecessor the BTMC 2712, it shared as many identical components with the wall version the BTMC 2725 as possible. The specific telephone pictured here has a model 2288 a handset that was originally designed for the model 2712. See my wall version for the handset normally found on this telephone.
