  1. Bakelite is so cool…..however it’s a pain to restore….I have brought back a few old radios made of bakelite, I use brasso for the heavy grime, the finish with salad oil…..a layer of clear coat protects the finish.

    • THank you, yes. Bakelite is a fantastic material. Although I am not a big fan of using food oils in restoration or putting a clear laquer over the material.

      Doen’t the clear coat flake off, if you use oil? If you laquer or paint an object, you need to degrease it really well to prevent it coming off.
